Equistar Farm is owned and operated by Meg and Dean Sherman. It is Meg’s passion for horses that created the farm. Meg’s experience started at an early age through 4-H and horse showing. She later worked at Pimilico and Laurel racetracks, thoroughbred breeding farms, and hunter jumper farms. In 1986, she accompanied the USET Jumping Team to Gothenburg Sweden for the Volvo World Cup Championships.
Meg bred her first warmblood in 1983 and showed her on the line in Maryland and Virginia. The filly was 2nd at Upperville and finished Reserve Champion in Maryland with limited showing.
Equistar Farm was created in 1998 and started as a lessons, training and boarding facility. Meg’s interest in creating sound, quality show horses soon took over as the main focus of the farm. The farm bought a few thoroughbred mares and warmblood mares to cross with warmblood stallions. Feiner Dance, is Meg’s foundation broodmare and she has produced De Feiner Star, Drum Roll Please, Sinsational Fox, and Drum Talk.
Some other horses and ponies bred by Equistar include Rockford, Marvel Comic, Equistar’s Chameleon, Equistar’s Spy Kid.
